The Rideau Lakes Cycle Tour just completed was my 13th in 14 years. The organizers of the tours did wonders. I was always proud to say, "I am a member of the OBC." To wear our jersey was a thrill.
Before my first tour at the age of 56 years, I cycled to work for 8 months from Barrhaven to Carling Ave. My family encouraged me to join the OBC. The late Bill Armstrong invited me to join his group on the tour. "Sir James" Wilson helped prepare me by inviting me to join his "touring 2" and evening rides.

Since the Aviation Parkway is undergoing much needed renovations, the Time Trials are moving to a new location! By popular demand, we will continue the series at a new venue. Frank Kenny Road between Innes and Colonial Roads has been selected as the location for the continuation of the Women's Time Trials on Tuesday nights as well as the Open Time Trials on Thursday Nights.

The Ontario Cycling Association recently announced Team Ontario selections for the national championships for both road and track. The OCA has selected OBC Junior Team members en masse with few exceptions. Congratulations to all athletes, Don Moxley, and the parents for their continued support. We wish you all the best at nationals.

Please follow the Rules of the Road
A recent club ride to Merrickville resulted in Club members being ticketed by an OPP officer for "not staying right while being overtaken" (HTA subsection 148(6)).
While the club is planning to challenge the officer's interpretation of that subsection of the HTA, this is a reminder to all participants riding through Merrickville and elsewhere that you must abide by traffic laws.
This doesn't mean that groups can't ride two abreast but it does mean you must consider the rights of other road users and make reasonable effort to share the road with them legally and safely. Please read and follow the safety and courtesy tips posted on the club website and included in your confirmation letter.

The OBC Racing team continued winning style in Ontario June 10th with multiple wins, seconds, thirds, and great performances by all team members.
Alyssa Mellon won her second (completed) race this year (she also won her first) in a very solid sprint in the S3W race. Alyssa will be graduating to the Elite Women's race soon and we are excited to continue to support her.
