Race Report - Ultralink Calabogie Classic

Race Report - Ultralink Calabogie Classic

There was great racing on a great course this weekend in Calabogie at the Ultralink Classic O-Cup. From the youngest OBC racer Derek Gee 3rd in the youth event (11 years old) to the masters, your performances were great and hope to see our success continue as the season unravels.

Race Report - Westover O-Cup

Race Report - Westover O-Cup

Off to the first race of the season, our racing team worked hard getting our racing legs back after our extended winter season. This is difficult for most, but not for Doug van den Ham who won the Men’s Senior 3 event solo (in our convincing OBC style). Congratulations Doug, we’ll be seeing you up in the big show by July for sure. All other categories were well represented, at least as can be expected for the long drive to Hamilton. Full results and race report can be seen on the OCA website.

Paris-Roubaix Cyclosportif - April 13th

Paris-Roubaix Cyclosportif - April 13th

Winter is doing its best to make sure that the worst roads we could find in the Ottawa area will be suitably prepared for the annual Paris-Roubaix Cyclosportif. While we don't have Gord Fraser or the pavé pictured above, the 72 kilometre route emulates its namesake by mixing up long sections of smooth pavement with stretches of gravel, rocks, mud and sand. Snow is also a good possibility. Along the way there is one steep, switchback climb and a less than relaxing trip through a sugar bush.

PLEASE NOTE: The nearly record breaking snowfall over the past winter has left several sections of the circuit impassible, at least by bicycle. A map of the revised route will be posted in advance of the event. The Forest Road section, the portion of Old Perth Road that follows it immediately afterwards, the switchback climb road and the final sugar bush road will all be eliminated from this year's edition. The overall distance will not be substantially reduced, however.
