Fall Reliability Ride this Sunday

Club members will have the chance to better their performance at the Fall Reliability Ride this Sunday, Oct. 3. It will be another 88-km loop pitting riders against their estimated time to complete the course. The usual Sunday tours will start at 9 a.m. from Billings Bridge Plaza, plenty of time to make the 9:30 registration time at the Old Hawthorne/St. George Cemetery on Russell Road about 1 km east of the Russell Road/Hawthorne intersection.

Upcoming Social - October 20th

The Last One -  Eight years of socials will be reviewed and highlighted with the help of Michael Rapsey's illustrations. If you have presented for us in the past; I encourage you to join us for this evening. This will be the last Social that I will be hosting. Doors open at the Naval Officers' Mess at 7:00pm. Cost is $3 per person for use of the facility. Inexpensive cash bar. All are welcome including non-OBC guests.

All OBC members are encouraged to attend the AGM It is an important opportunity to elect your directors, hear the current year’s reports and socialize with fellow members. Please check the website for additional details and also the changes to the constitution to be voted on at the AGM.

Constituton Review

In August of 2009 the OBC Board struck a committee to review the Club's Constitution. It had been a decade since the Constitution was reviewed and updated. The Committee was chaired by Roger Marleau, then Vice-President; Lesley Cassidy, then Director at large; and Gail Stratton, Member at large.  The committee met numerous times over 2009 with the following objectives:

 

Rideau Lakes Cycle Tour 2011 jersey design request

The Rideau Lakes Cycle Tour Committee would like to offer a 40th Anniversary Cycling Jersey in 2011. Designs should be submitted to the Ottawa Bicycle Club office before November 1st 2010.

Club office closure

The club office will be closed this Wednesday September 15th and Saturday September 18th.

Modification to Tuesday evening ride

Due to construction downtown, on Tuesday September 14th the planned "Bridges" route will be changed to a 32.5 km southeasterly out and back route. The departure location and time is unchanged (Billings Bridge, 5:30 PM). For further information please contact Scott McDougall (613-260-2748)

OBC 40km Time Trial - Sunday September 19th *One Hour Later *

It's time for almost-traditional-end-of-summer OBC 40km Time Trial - again on OBC's popular Fournier course. Note the time change below.

The TT will be held on Sunday September 19th, registration is 9:30 am to 10:00 am, registration location will be Fournier Park, on Rue du Parc. Fournier is approximately 90km east of downtown Ottawa. Allow approximately 1 hour to drive from downtown Ottawa.

The TT will be held on Sunday September 19th, registration is 8:30 am to 9:00 am, registration location will be Fournier Park, on Rue du Parc. Fournier is approximately 90km east of downtown Ottawa. Allow approximately 1 hour to drive from downtown Ottawa.

Normal OBC OTT rules apply, i.e., eligibility to participate in OBC Time Trials and normal Time Trial Rules.

Club Picnic - September 12th

The OBC Sunday ride on September 12th to picnic with the returning Summer's End Century Tour riders at the Russell Conservation Area will start from Billings Bridge at 10 a.m. rather than the usual 9 a.m. time.

Also, the bridge in Russell is closed for road repairs, but riders can cross it by walking on the sidewalk and turning left on Church Street to get to the conservation area picnic site.

Office closure for long weekend

In order to take advantage of the last summer weekend, the office will be closed both Saturday and Monday of the upcoming long weekend.
