New luggage policy

To ensure the physical safety for our volunteers, over-sized and over-weight luggage will be refused this year. Each rider is allowed one bag similar in size to a carry-on bag.

Our luggage truck is almost at capacity. It would be very unfortunate if it was pulled off the road and no one was able to collect their luggage!

Luggage that originates from Ottawa will be returned to Ottawa and luggage that originates from Perth will only be returned to Perth. Riders who chose to leave from Perth that are not registered for the Century tour will not have their luggage transported.

Unclaimed luggage can be picked up at the OBC office on Saturday June 15th between 9am and 12noon.

Zero Tolerance

Let's keep the 2013 tour fun and safe. Keep the attitude at home! Our volunteers have generously donated their time to help you have a successful tour.

Please take a minute to verify your bib number

Due to a technical glitch, some riders were issued the same bib numbers. The error was resolved in March. The majority of names will appear as the original entrant. Please make sure you know your bib number which is available on the registration confirmation page .

All of the other information is on the RLCT website. New GPS route maps and cue sheets  are also there. Directions, parking, confirmation list etc. Please remember this year's RLCT Classic, Cruise and Challenge routes start at Algonquin College, Woodroffe campus.

New clothing items

New clothing items

Last summer we had a small run of Louis Garneau's top of the line mens bib shorts arrive. These are the same material and cut that Louis Garneau sponsored Pro teams wear (such as Europcar, featuring Thomas Voeckler).

This is a more expensive short at $150 (includes HST), but our price has no markup (really). I've ridden in some of the other top of the line shorts, and these are as good as or better than most of them.

Upcoming Touring Events

Adirondack Quickie August 16 - 18 2013

Once again the OBC will visit the Lake Placid area in late summer. This is a great area to ride a bike, with layered green hills, rushing streams and lots of quiet country roads. If that isn't enough a change of speed can be had by bringing your hiking boots - the hiking is terrific too! The sleepy town of Lake Placid is nearby as well.

This year, we return to Whiteface Chalet, near Wilmington with a view of Whiteface Mountain. The location is clean, simple and tucked in the trees. And the food, yummy! It's the same great cycling.

Vermont Weekend and Vermont Inn to Inn Route Maps

As promised, here are the route maps  for the Vermont Weekend and Vermont Inn to Inn tours in the August. I have created files that can be viewed in Google Earth. After some experimenting with this, I find that it offers a great way to evaluate the charms of each proposed route. Not only does it show the route in a traditional way, but it can "flyover" the route, showing terrain in a remarkably realistic way.

Learn to Race Team

Learn to Race Team

We had a great turnout at the Cuisses D'Or criterium this evening, with about 30 OBC athletes between the ages of 6 and 16 tearing up the race course. Coach Rob is giving the athletes instructions before the first race started. The Learn To Race Team (L2RT) is off to a great start.
