OBC BBQ at Baxter Conservation Area and New Departure Location

And now for something completely different! Yes, the great OBC BBQ is coming soon. Book your calendars for Sunday, August 17th, 2014. It starts at 10:00 a.m. and goes to about 2:00 p.m. Meet us at the Baxter Conservation Area (at the corner of Dilworth and Rideau Valley Drive South). The Baxter Conservation Centre is located 6.5 km due south of Kars. At this junction, go south on Carter Road, along the Rideau River to the end and look for the Interpretive Centre (about 1 km). BBQ sausages or veggie burgers, vegetables, snacks, and refreshments will be served. Look for the OBC banner and signs. For those of you who bring the family, there is a unsupervised beach and changing area. Welcome! We look forward to seeing you.

The departure will be from the Nepean Sportsplex on Woodroffe Avenue. This is the first in a number of new departure locations that offer more destinations while reducing considerably urban traffic. Three routes will be available on the day: 60km to the Baxter Conservation Area, 105-ish km to Burritts Rapids and a longer ride to Merrickville of about 130km.

The maps will also be available in both paper and GPS format for the first time on a trial basis for members who prefer one format over the other. Please see the OBC website for further details as the date approaches.
