2013 Audit Findings & Treasurer's Comments

At the 2013 AGM held on October 30, 2013, the membership voted to obtain the first ever full audit of its fiscal year financial records.  In past years the club has obtained a "Review" of our financial records from a Professional Chartered Account which was followed up by an informal "Audit" by a non-board club member without any requirement for professional qualifications for the audit.  The professional audit was obtained for the fiscal year Dec 1, 2012 to Nov 30, 2013 as voted by the membership.  Follow the link below for the resulting documents:

Updated with AGM package

Meeting Room at 464 Metcalfe (NOTE NEW LOCATION - Not at City Hall this year)
6:30pm - 9:30pm. Meeting will be called to order at 7pm.

The AGM is the time where we reflect back on the year that was and look forward to the coming year. It is also where we elect board members.  We have a number of board positions that will come up for election this year.

  • Two-Year Directors with Portfolio: Newsletter, Racing Events, Marketing and Communications
  • One-Year Directors without Portfolio: Two positions free

Please think about becoming a Board member so that you can contribute your knowledge, ideas and passion for cycling.  The Board meets once a month (the first Monday evening, usually 7-9 p.m.) in our Clubhouse.  Business is transacted and there is time for lively discussion.  If you have any questions and are willing to become a Board Member, please contact Peter Tregunno  or Jenny Moore Close .

The detailed AGM package is here.

Lost & Found - Come Get Your Stuff!

We have been cleaning up the office and to that end we are going to be ridding ourselves of the Lost & Found items.  Most of what's here is left over from this year's Rideau Lakes Tour back in June.  There's quite a lot of stuff here that we will be forced to get rid of if no one picks it up - so please come in and get your stuff!  We are looking at emptying everything out at the end of October.

Sunday Ride Departure Time

The departure time on Sunday morning is now 10:00 am at Billings Bridge for the remainder of the cycling season.

October Spokesperson

The October issue of the Spokesperson has been distributed via e-mail. It is also available on-line.

OBC Social - Wednesday, October 15th The History of CCM

John McKenty is a retired high school principal, having retired in 2004 after 30 years in education. His passion for writing has continued, and we are very fortunate to have him come in to present.

"Basically, what I do is use vintage photographs and company artifacts to take a somewhat light-hearted look at how CCM came to dominate the Canadian bicycle and skate markets. It often strikes a nostalgic chord with those whose first bike was a CCM or who longed to own a pair of CCM Tack skates.

OBC 'Build Your Own Sandwich' Picnic, October 19th - updated with maps

It's back on! The OBC Picnic is rescheduled for Sunday, October 19th 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.ish. We have a new twist to the whole affair. The venue is taking place at our very own OBC Office at the corner of Booth and Albert. The plan is for the 'Picnic' to be integrated into the Sunday Ride. If you can't ride that day, you are still most welcome to drop by for a sandwich, a hot and/or cold beverage, snacks, and a friendly 'hello'. Those of you who haven't visited the newly renovated office (more than double the square footage of the former office), now's your chance! It would be great to see you there. Take care.
