OBC Website Disruption and Forum Changes - Friday December 18th

On December 18th, the webhosting company used by the OBC unexpectedly retired the server running our website. Our site is now running on a new webserver. As a result, parts of our website will not be functional until they have been upgraded to work on the new server.

As part of this forced upgrade, we have retired our club bulletin board system. The version we were using had been around since 2001 and was no longer supported. It was a constant struggle to keep free of spam and was off-line six times last year due to spammers corrupting the database. The newest version of this bulletin board software lacks the e-mail integration used by most participants.

Instead we have moved the club discussion forum to google groups. Participants are able to post via the web interface or via e-mail. Participants can optionally receive posting via e-mail; either each posting individually or a daily e-mail digest.

To view the forum, visit the Ottawa Bicycle Club forum on google groups:

To post to the forum, you must first e-mail your name and club membership number to the club webmaster to be added to the group. Once you receive a notification that you have been added to the group, you will receive each new forum posting by e-mail and will also be able to post by sending e-mail to the forum e-mail address: If you subscribed using a google account, either a gmail address or another e-mail that you've registered with google, you can login to the forum and post messages via the website or change your e-mail subscription options.

I apologize for the short notice, I didn't receive a lot of warning myself.
