Tuesday Night Ride Reminder

As the riding season moves closer to September, the days are getting shorter. The sun this Tuesday will set around 8:00pm. If you intend to ride on Tuesdays, you are strongly encouraged to add a light to your bike. A flat can extend an outing long enough to ride in the dark. Lights are not expensive, easy to install and are available at all good bike shops.

OBC Introduction to Track Cycling Sessions

OBC Introduction to Track Cycling Sessions
Track cycling is an extremely valuable skill to learn - it develops many skills that transfer to road cycling, but most importantly, "It’s a blast!”. You may think track riding is just for the racers, cyclo-sportifs, the “really fast guys”. The truth is the vast majority of track riders are recreational riders. Riders range in age from 10 to 93, with 40-70 year olds being heavily represented, about 30% women. There are whole families that ride together. You can ride on your own, but it’s much more fun to ride in a pace line with other riders. You don’t even need your own track bike… Tracks have nice track bikes you can rent for a modest fee.

WTT Invitational & Awards Banquet - Tuesday, August 30th

The Women's Time Trial Invitational will be held on Tuesday, August 30th.  This is where we encourage women time trialers to bring a partner, male or female, OBC member or other OCA affiliated club or UCI license holder, for a team time trial.  Following which our Awards Banquet will be held at Grace O'Malley's (1151 Ogilvie Road).  New or seasoned, we encourage you to come out!

WTT Cancelled for Tuesday, August 16 & Awards Banquet August 30

This is very unusual but it's been decided to cancel tomorrow evening's Women's Time Trial.  We usually go forward if there is a little rain in the forecast; however, weather statements have been issued for a significant amount of rain beginning tomorrow afternoon and continuing on into the evening.  Due to the amount of rain we are expected to receive around the time of the time trial, we will be cancelling for tomorrow evening.

Also, please note that the Women's Time Trial Invitational, where we encourage women to bring a partner, male or female, OBC member or other OCA affiliated club or UCI license holder, for a team time trial.  Following which there will be an Awards Banquet at Grace O'Malley's (1151 Ogilvie Road) on Tuesday, August 30th.
