Les Humphreys took a bike to the 2019 Road World Championships in Harrogate, England last September. His route took in an ancient trackway, abandoned canals, extensive rail trails and the National Cycling Network. En route he visited Ironbridge, the starting point of the Industrial Revolution; Cromford, the very first factory town, and Middleton Top on the High Peak Trail, one of the very first cable railways. All this in 8 days and 550 kilometers en route to Harrogate to watch the senior elite women finish in warm sunshine and, the following day, a depleted rain soaked field straggled in to finish the men's event.
