Ottawa Bicycle Club - Join us to ride!
The Ottawa Bicycle Club is one of the oldest and largest bicycle clubs in Canada, with more than 1100 members.
The OBC offers a range of cycling programs which appeal to a range of cyclists from novice to experienced riders, for all age groups, including youth. Fully insured through the Ontario Cycling Association, the OBC's priority is safety and education, and its cyclists ride over 300,000 kilometers each season on Ottawa-area roads with a negligible accident rate.
The OBC is run on a voluntary basis by members -- only through an active membership can the club offer so many programs. Club members volunteer to lead the group rides and organize club events. To volunteer, please sign up on our iVolunteer page.

On Sunday mornings and Tuesday evenings, members meet for group rides. These rides depart from several pre-arranged city and area locations for a variety of destinations, changing each week. Rides are designed for all types of riders, with groups of 6 to 12 organized at all levels of ability. Each group is led by an experienced group ride leader.
The OBC offers a number of clinics designed to help members of various experience ride safely in a group with a high level of skill and fun. For safety reasons, new members are required to complete a free half-day clinic to learn group riding techniques. The confidence of new group riders increases as an experienced OBC instructor teaches about the OBC cycling safety philosophy, and guides them through various group riding techniques in a safe and secure setting. These half-day clinics take place throughout the spring and summer. The OBC also runs more advanced clinics for those interested in racing or higher-level group riding skills.
Touring events are multiple-day tours to locations outside the National Capital Region The OBC organizes several of these touring events in central Ontario, Quebec, and the north-eastern US, with pre-booked accommodation and pre-planned routes.
Rideau Lakes Cycle Tour
The OBC's largest and best-known event is the Rideau Lakes Cycle Tour (RLCT), normally held the second weekend in June. Passing through picturesque countryside between Ottawa and Kingston, Ontario, the RLCT attracts over 2000 cyclists from all over North America.
The OBC runs a youth cycling program that has produced national-level competitors. The OBC Youth Program is structured to meet the needs of athletes and families, while providing quality coaching.
The OBC is the host club for the spring Paris-Roubaix Cyclosportif.
Weekly time trials, held Tuesday and Thursday evening on the Rockcliffe Parkway are a great way to improve cycling performance. A time trial is a friendly competition between individual cyclist and the clock. Participants are sent off at fixed intervals and their time is recorded upon completion.
The OBC hosts monthly social evenings, usually on Wednesdays. Guest speakers present on a variety of cycling topics, such as cycling in exotic locations. In addition, we hold several barbeques and picnics integrated with the group ride program.
