Ride Leaders Training

We can always use more ride leaders. So, if you are an experienced and active touring rider, consider volunteering as a ride leader.

To help new leaders get started, OBC offers Ride Leaders Training. This classroom-style session gives you the tools and information you need to lead touring rides with confidence.

What Happens at a Ride Leaders Training Session?

This is a presentation-style session that lasts about 2 hours. It also includes time for questions and group discussion.

Topics include:

  • First, the role of a ride leader

  • Next, how to plan and organize a ride

  • Also, ride organization and registration

  • Then, how to handle mechanical, medical, and other issues

  • In addition, what resources you can use

  • Preparing for a ride

  • What to do at the start of a ride

  • What to do during the ride

  • What to do after the ride

  • Finally, basic group riding behaviours
