Tours

The OBC facilitates select out-of-town tours each year for its members. Most tours are organized by individual members with a knack for event planning and a keen interest in exploring new and exciting locations on their bike or sharing their cycling passion with others. If you have an idea for a tour and want to get something on the OBC Calendar, contact the Touring Director

Spring Riding in Southern Ontario!

Once again the OBC will be offering its annual Spring tour to Cobourg in the heart of Northumberland county. As in past years, we have been able to reserve a block of rooms at The Breakers on the Lake for the May long weekend.

We will check in on Friday May 15th and finish on Victoria Day morning, May 18th, with a quick easy ride before heading home. Previous trips have been a great success, with sunny days, cool evenings and barbecue facilities available for the Saturday and Sunday evening meals, should you wish.

Mornings are usually cool but temperatures warm up during the day and Lake Ontario is just a few feet away for those who are adventurous enough to take a dip after the day’s ride. Friday evening is set aside for a dinner out with the tour participants and discussions on the various riding options for the next few days. The touring area around Cobourg is ideal for the spring training required to prepare for upcoming longer rides including Rideau Lakes, with many of the routes in the 100 km range with some hearty hills to dig into.

Registration is done through the OBC (see below) but you should reserve your room directly with The Breakers On The Lake. There are 8 rooms being held for the OBC until April 1. Book early to avoid disappointment.

New to the OBC for 2026 is a tour of the Ottawa Valley region! Pembroke and the Ottawa Valley offer a wide variety of routes to be explored in every direction.

  • The mixed-use Ottawa Valley Trail runs through Pembroke. Coming from Arnprior in the Southeast, it extends further Northwest, past Petawawa to Deep River. https://www.ottawavalleytrail.com/
  • South of Pembroke are routes through farmland and bush country to French Settlement, Stafford, Micksburg, Oceola, Douglas and Eganville.
  • East of Pembroke in Whitewater Region (Westmeath- Beachburg – La Passe – Foresters Falls) are quiet roads with views of the Quebec hills across the river.
  • To the Southwest, challenging hill climbs and descents are available in the Madawaska Highlands, all of which are well known to local riders. Eganville and Killaloe are popular starting points, taking you through Wilno, Barry’s Bay, Combermere, Brudenell and Foymount.
  • Looking North, across the Quebec bridge to l’Isle aux Allumettes, follow a quiet circle route around the island. In Chapeau, find Conroy’s Store, the Old Bank Restaurant and Karl’s Bakery.

LOCAL RESOURCES:

In October 2026, for the first time ever the OBC will be offering a one week Mallorca Cycling tour organized through the Stuart Hall Cycling company. This is the perfect way to extend the summer and wrap up your cycling season!

Since it will be organized through a tour company, it will not be limited to OBC members as with our other out-of-town tours. Tell your cycling friends or family members that might be interested in joining us! We will be able to get a volume discount based on the amount of business we bring the tour company, so the more the merrier.

We will be at the hotel between October 7-14, departing from Ottawa on October 6 and returning on October 14 or 15th depending on available flights.

Routes

For route options see ride details: https://stuarthallcycling.co.uk/package/mallorca-october

Bike Rentals

For details see website: https://stuarthallcycling.co.uk/package/mallorca-bike-hire

Hotel

We will be staying at the Playa Mar hotel in Puerto Pollensa in the north end of the island.

Rooms

The rooms have a separate bedroom and a pull out couch in the living area, with one bathroom/per room. Also available in the living area are a microwave, tv and fridge. The bedroom could contain either a double bed or two singles if requested.

Costs

Cost for the week will be £1,368.99 per room, not including flight or bike rental, or transfer fee. The exact amount will be based on conversion rates at the time of credit card payment.

Here are the details on the price (quoted in British pounds since the company is UK based, but euros will be accepted if that is the preference).

Single occupancy: paid by one person.
£ 1,022.98

Double occupancy (2 people in the room, referred to as twin on the website)
£ 1,368.99
Each person pays 684.50, half

Triple occupancy (3 people in the room)
£ 1,882.37
Each person pays 627.46, one third

Above prices include the room at the hotel with breakfast and dinner (that is what is referred to as half-board in Europe/the UK), and the daily guided rides.

The rooms are all the same size, like small apartments. They are thus very big for one person on their own, and ideal for sharing between two adults. They all have a similar layout with separate bedroom, living area with microwave and fridge.

Note that the bike rental and airport transfer are extra, but we can get a discount on these costs if we have at least 10 people sign up and we all arrive at the airport together.

For details of the inclusions and exclusions see the website. The Mallorcan Tourist Tax is also not included in the price and is payable directly to the hotel on arrival. It has been €3.30 per night for the last few years, but subject to change.

Budget for about 2000 for flights (economy class) and about £20-£40 per day depending on the bike

Payment

One payment per room will be required.  A deposit of £100 dollars will be required at the time of booking to hold the room and the remaining amount will be due 75 days before arrival.  The deposit should be made by the end of April to avoid disappointment.

Booking and payment can be made online by credit card using the discount code OBC26. The company will send over a booking confirmation per room, and the bike rental/s will be on that confirmation also with a breakdown of the price, so if two people are sharing and only one is renting a bike, it will be clear how much each person needs to pay.

OBC should be used in the Group field where it asks if you are part of a group.

TBC can be put in the fields that ask for flight details (flight number, flight time). This will be determined after April when we meet as a group.

https://stuarthallcycling.co.uk/mallorcaautumnbooknow

Insurance coverage

Purchasing travel insurance, complete with medical coverage will be mandatory for all participants.

Towards the end of April we will have a virtual meeting with all registrants to discuss the details of the trip including the flights.
